Last updated 24 April 2026. This is a demo site and does not collect personal data. A live production site would handle the data described below.
1. Who we are
The Example Lodge ("the lodge", "we") is a Tanzanian hospitality company registered in Arusha, with four privately owned properties on the Serengeti rim, the Ngorongoro crater, the Zanzibar north coast, and in the Kilimanjaro foothills. We are a member of Relais & Châteaux. This privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information when you enquire, book or stay with us.
2. What we collect
When you enquire through the website we collect: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, country of residence, preferred dates, group composition, room or villa preference, dietary requirements, and any notes you add. When you confirm a booking we additionally collect passport details (for park permits and arrival registration) and credit card details (handled exclusively by our PCI-compliant payment provider). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
3. Cookies
This website does not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioural tracking. The only cookies set are technical cookies that remember your preferences (for example, whether you have dismissed a banner, or your selected language). We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any equivalent profiling tool on this site.
4. How we use your information
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Respond to your enquiry with availability, room options and an honest quote
- Coordinate your booking with our properties and partner lodges
- Arrange airport transfers, internal flights, park permits, and bespoke experiences
- Send you pre-arrival logistics, packing notes and a personal welcome
- Request feedback after departure, which we use only to train our team
5. Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary details with: our four properties for room readiness, partner suppliers (private chefs, Maasai cultural coordinators, balloon operators, charter pilots) for booked services, the Tanzania National Parks Authority for permits, and the airline carrying you on internal flights. We do not sell, rent or share your information with marketing companies.
6. How long we keep it
Enquiry data is kept for 24 months and then automatically deleted. Booking and stay data is kept for six years to comply with Tanzanian tax and tourism legislation, then permanently deleted. Marketing consent (if granted) is reviewed every two years.
7. Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time. Email stay@example-lodge.com with your request. We respond within 14 days. If you live in the European Union or United Kingdom you also have the right to complain to your national data authority.
8. Security
Booking data is held on encrypted servers within the European Union. Access is restricted to the reservations team and senior managers. We have an internal data breach notification procedure in line with GDPR Article 33.
